Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT)

The Combat Application Tourniquet® (C-A-T®) is recognized as the best prehospital tourniquet, according to a February 2008 supplement of The Journal of Trauma. Proven 100% effective by the U.S. Army’s Institute of Surgical Research, the C-A-T® completely stops blood flow in traumatic wounds with severe bleeding. The Gen 7 version features a robust windlass system and a unique internal band for true circumferential pressure. Once tightened, the windlass locks in place, and a retention strap secures it during evacuation. Since 2005, the C-A-T® has been the official tourniquet of the U.S. Army, distinguished by its patented red tip design.
